Parents have a whole summer to find ways to entertain the kids, who continue to complain that they are bored.  Here are some ideas on things that you can do to keep them busy.  Make a family yearbook, visit a farmer's market, make your own ice cream, build a sand castle at the beach, have a water balloon fight, go biking on a trail, set up a lemonade stand, make pizza, interview an older relative about what life was like when they were young, plant a garden of herbs and veggies, string beads into jewelry or make your own jewelry, learn about the stars, make a bird house out of popsicle sticks, visit an ethnic grocery store and make a meal with your findings, make your own smoothies, make a family cookbook with your favorite recipes, learn how to sew, visit a retirement home and read stories to residents, take a kids workshop at Home Depot or have a game night.

Here are some low budget things that you can do with the kids.  Regal Theatres offer $1 for some kid movies, check out their schedule, http://www.regmovies.com/Movies/Summer-Movie-Express.  Join stargazers from the South Florida Amateur Astronomers Association for free star gazing most Saturday nights at the Fox Observatory in Markham Park, 16001 State Road 84, Sunrise. The Coral Springs Museum of Art offers special Family Funday programs on the second Sunday of the month. The programs include arts and crafts, with a new theme every month. The event starts at 3 p.m. The program is $5 per person at the door or $4 per person if you register and pay in advance.
